Chef Confesses To Murdering His Girlfriend 20 Years Ago

A Spanish fast-food cook has confessed to murdering his girlfriend, who went missing nearly 20 years ago, and then burying her remains.

Jesus Pradales Herrero, 58, made the partial confession after police found human bones in Avila Province, west-central Spain on 16th October.

The remains are expected to be matched to Juana Canal Luque, who went missing from her home in Madrid, central Spain in the early hours of 23rd February 2003.

Pradeles Herrero – who has a mobile hamburger and sandwich stand – was arrested as he left his home in Fuente el Saz del Jarama, Madrid Province, on 26th October.

He told police the following morning that he had chopped up and buried the 38-year-old mother of two boys, who were aged 16 and 18 at the time.

He said: “That night I got home, on Boldano Street, and found Juani dead. I didn’t know what to do with her and I cut her up. Then I put her in two bags and buried her near my family’s land in Avila.”

But police believe he actually killed Juana with a blow to the head before butchering her body in the bathtub.

Investigators found that Juana had called the police over an alleged beating just hours before her disappearance.

They believe the couple had argued on 22nd February and that Juana – who worked as an administrative officer – had wanted to end the relationship.

During the investigation, police found that Pradales Herrero had married just six months after Juana’s disappearance and that his current wife and children had been completely unaware of his dark past.

He was remanded in custody in Brieva, Avila Province on 28th October after taking police to the spot where he had allegedly disposed of his victim’s remains.

Juana’s sister Ana Maria told local media: “Right now we are very nervous, but satisfied. The truth is already coming out, which is what we want.”
