Summer Fiestas Bring Out The Bulls!
This is the moment a police helicopter and surveillance drones monitor a traditional bull-running festival from the air to help keep runners and spectators safe.
The footage was obtained from Spain’s Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) in the city of Soria, in the Spanish province of Soria, on the 25th of June.
The aerial operation covered La Saca, the high point of the city’s annual Fiestas de San Juan, in which twelve bulls are driven from the Valonsadero woodland on the city’s edge to the bullring in the centre.
Horse riders, runners and tame cattle guide the animals across open countryside and through the streets, in a tradition documented since the 16th century.
The Guardia Civil said: “Security is also coordinated from the air.
“During La Saca, in the San Juan festivals of Soria, the helicopter from the Air Service and the PEGASO Team drones from the Soria Command carry out monitoring of the route with a global view of the event.
“Allowing the coordination and contribution to the safety of participants, runners and the public.”
The same bulls are due to be fought in the Soria bullring the following day, during the festival’s Day of the Bulls.
