Another Goring Victim As Bull Running Fiestas Take A Heavy Toll

Another daredevil bullrunner had a terrifying close call when his manhood was almost speared by a raging beast’s horns.

Miguel Ventosa – know as ‘Venturita’ – was horrifically gored in the ring during the festival in Lodosa, Navarre region, Spain, on 1st August.

The 47-year-old had reportedly come to a man’s aid when the beast turned on him and gored him in the leg.

Shocking video footage of an earlier goring shows a runner being repeatedly battered by a huge bull.

Local media reported that he suffered a 20-centimetre wound to his right thigh that stopped just short of his genitals.

At one point, he is flipped head over heels like a rag doll before the bull hits him squarely in the groin with its razor sharp horns.

Two terrified men clinging to a metal window grille can be seen trying to kick the bull away.

After being dragged down the tarmac by the bull, the injured man was able to hobble away when other runners distracted the animal.

The whole ordeal lasted around 20 seconds.

He was then taken to a hospital in nearby Estella to be treated for a goring wound to his left thigh and another to the right side of his groin.

He was not named in reports but is said to be 20 years old and from San Sebastian, in the Basque Country.

Animal rights non-profit PETA urges people to avoid running-of-the-bulls events as the animals are terrified and injured and are later slaughtered in the bullring.

PETA adds: “The event is extremely dangerous for humans in other ways, too. Between 50 and 100 attendees are injured each year, and 16 have died.”

Last month alone 3 people were killed in local fiestas featuring bullrunning in Valenica region, while dozens were injured in the more famous San Fermin festival in Pamplona.
