Madrid Comedy Festival Returns For Second Year
Last October, Madrid got its first taste of something the city didn’t quite have yet: a comedy festival built for everyone who calls it home, not just Spanish speakers or English speakers, but both, and several other languages besides.
Over four nights, October 16-19, the inaugural Madrid Comedy Festival took over 7 venues across the city centre, from intimate bars to proper theatres, for 23 shows in 5 languages and 50 comedians drawn from Madrid’s own thriving, international stand-up scene.
It wasn’t a corporate production. It was built by comedians who live in Madrid and believed the city, one of the most cosmopolitan in Europe, deserved a festival that actually reflected that. The gamble paid off.
The festival’s Teatro Amaya presentation drew support from established names in Spanish comedy, including padrinos Sergio Pazos and Javier Losán, and backing from the Comunidad de Madrid. But the real story was the audience itself, madrileños and expats, tourists and regulars, all in the same room, laughing at the same jokes in whatever language they landed in.
The second edition returns October 1-4, 2026, bigger: 8 venues, 35 shows, 7 languages.
