Madrid Tops World´s Best Hospitals Lists In Spain

Six of the eleven Spanish hospitals listed in the 200 best in the world, according to Newsweek´s World´s Best Hospitals 2021 are in Madrid.

Of the others, two in Cataluña, and one each in Navarra, Andalucia and Valencia.

The top ranking Madrid hospital is La Paz which is placed at no 51 in the list, followed by Gregorio Marañon, Doce de Octubre, San Carlos Clinic, Ramon y Cajal and the Jimenez Diaz Foundation.

The list is compiled from 2,000 hospitals and clinics in 25 countries including including United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Canada, Spain and Italy.

The top listed centres of medical excellence are judged on their commitment, peer review from leading fellow physicians, top-notch nursing care as well as the application of state-of-the-art technology for patient care.

Madrid´s Gregorio Marañon Hospital celebrated the news by releasing it´s 5,000th Covid-19 patient today.

A delighted Francisco Javier, 52 had been treated in the hospital´s ICU ( intensive care ward) since January for the coronavirus.

In all, the Gregorio Marañon has treated a total of 16,000 for the virus of whom 1,000 were in-patients.
