Narrow Goring Escape For Practicing Athlete
An athlete who was attacked by a cow while she was running across farmland has told how she thought she was going to be crushed to death by the angry half-tonne beast.
Ultramarathon runner Sara Alonso Martinez, 26, had been training on a mountain pasture in Catalonia, northern Spain, on 13th July when she was charged by the cow.
The attack, Sara told her almost 150,000 Instagram followers, left her with a broken rib and severe bruising.
Hospital X-ray images show a fracture in her sixth rib and bruising covering her entire right leg.

Sara told her supporters: “Even though it seems like a f***ing joke, it’s the biggest nightmare I could have today. I’m completely devastated.”
She added: “Today, as soon as I started training, a cow attacked me. It sounds like a joke, but the hospital has had two cases in recent years.
“I’ve been through one of the most terrifying situations of my life, and at one point I thought it would keep on goring me until it killed me.

“It stopped, and I was able to get out of there but I have trauma all over my body, and worst of all, it completely fractured my sixth rib.”
Now Sara has had to drop out of next month’s Ultra-Trail on Mont-Blanc after months of training for what fans consider the Word Cup of super-marathons.
She revealed: “Everything was going so well this year, and the summer promised so much. And the fact that it’s gone so quickly is crushing me inside.”
