The Raw Society Photo Fest Heads To Menorca!
In 2016, a major career move inspired Christelle to quit her job in advertising and travel for 6 months, during which she developed a love for photography and met her husband, a photographer himself. Now, after coming together and founding a community with over 350 members, the couple is hosting their very first edition of the Raw Photo Fest this summer in Menorca.
The Raw Society was created by Christelle Enquist and her husband, Jorge Delgado-Ureña, as a platform for photographers to communicate, share work, and support one another.
Their first edition of the Raw Photo Fest will be happening this May 7th-10th in Menorca.
Now, with the virtual community fostering 350 enrolled photographers and with vast experience hosting events, the couple welcomes you to the Raw Photo Fest, bringing their virtual platform out into the real world.
“It’s all an experiment, but our aim and our goal is to attract a wide public because photography should be experienced by everyone. Why do people go to film festivals and why don’t they go to photography festivals—let’s make photography as attractive as a film festival, where people want to just go spend time and enjoy the moment.” – Christelle
The festival will take place on the 7th and 10th of May and provides free General Access to allow anyone, not just photography fanatics, to experience the event.
With 23 exhibitions, the festival does not focus on a theme but promises to explore the nature of storytelling,
“Storytelling is one of the oldest parts of human nature; we have always told stories from the cavemen who were drawing on the walls all the way to written stories, oral stories, and photography just continues that legacy of storytelling.” – Christelle
In addition to general access, there is the option of the 60 Euro four-day pass, which includes entry to all exhibition openings and special activities in their program.
For the past two years, Christelle, who is half Menorquin, half Swedish, and her husband have been organizing the official Raw Society Photofestival in Menorca. While the Raw Society community has given her so much, so has the island—her home for the past 5 years— this is a way to give back to both while doing something she loves.
“I want people to understand you don’t have to be a super fan of photography, but just be curious, it’s really about discovering.” – Christelle
If someone wants to experience the festival but cannot attend, there will be multiple media channels covering the event, including podcasts and magazines, as well as full coverage on the YouTube channel Photolari.
In the founders’ own words, “to do something great you need time,” and what they have created will not only be great but also will provide an opportunity for photography to be seen beyond an image.”
