Indoor Face Masks Finally Coming Off After Easter
The Spanish Ministry of Health has announced a further easing on the wearing of face masks from Tuesday 19th April.
The Spanish Health Minister, Carolina Darias, made the announcement yesterday, Wednesday April 6th, following the Interterritorial Council Meeting, which coordinats the Covid-19 response between central government and the country’s 17 regional authorities, including that of Madrid.

The Madrid regional government has been pushing for a relaxation of the rules since the central government removed the need for wearing facemasks outdoors at the end of February.
Face masks are currently compulsory in all indoor public spaces, including shops, and public transport but this requirement will cease.
There maybe some ongoing restrictions for hospitals and old age residences.
The new rules will be ratified by a royal decree and come into force just after the Easter break finishes.
To date Spain has recorded some 11.5 million Covid-19 cases of which just over 102,000 have been fatal.
