Madrid´s “Veranos de la Villa” Summer Festival Returns

A summer in Madrid would not be complete without its iconic cultural festival – Veranos de la Villa, which returns for its 37th year from 1 July to 29 August.

The festival, organised by Madrid´s Culture, Tourism and Sport Ministry brings together the best in national and international culture, with artists and creators showcasing their latest creations.

The official opening will be on 6 July with a concert by Portuguese Eurovision winner, Salvador Sobral, at the Conde Duque and where it will also finish with a musical finale by Sevillan singer, Pastora Soler, who will be performing songs from her latest album as well as covering popular songs by Madrid songwriters.

A diverse and enjoyable programme of over 50 activities that is designed for locals and visitors alike. Music, performing arts, circus, exhibitions, and gastronomy are some of the cultural highlights that connect Spain´s rich cultural heritage and traditions.

Included this year is a strong international component led by South Korea as the guest featured country who will be marking the 10th anniversary of the Korean Cultural Centre in Spain,with a number of Korean artists headlining.

The festival will also feature the world premiere of Bounce by Circa, by Australian circus company Bounce.
The bicentenary of Peru’s Independence is celebrated with with a tribute to the Peruvian singer and songwriter Chabuca Granda performed by Pitingo and Slovenia’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2021, is marked by welcoming the prestigious Slovenian National Theater Opera and Ballet Ljubljana.

For the first time, this year’s Veranos de la Villa festival will incorporate a new venue, the legendary Courtyard of the Instituto San Isidro school, featuring performances by the likes of Nuria Espert, Lluís Pasqual and Tarta Relena.
