Spain Lockdown Eases As Adults Allowed Out

Further to the de-escalation measures that the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced in his 4 point phase return to the “new normality” earlier this week, it was the turn of Health Minister Salvador Illa to announce that starting Saturday 2nd Of May adults would be able to go out individually to exercise once a day.

Individuals may also also practice sports on their own and go out for a maximum of 1 hour per day for walks with no more than one other member of their family within a 1 km radius of their home providing that this is done between 06.00 and 10.00 and 20.00 and 23.00.

Family walks with the children must now be taken between 12.00 and 19.00 only.

Vulnerable people with carers and family help for those over the age of 70 may go out between 10.00 and 12.00 or 19.00 -20.00.

The measures will apply to municipalities with more than 5,000 inhabitants as there is no perceived risk of “crowding” in the smaller towns and villages.

Spain has seen nearly 240,000 cases of coronavirus of which 24,543 have been fatalities.

However the rate of new infections and deaths is slowing with 268 fatalities announced today.
