British Woman Murdered By Husband In Madrid

The Spanish National Police are investigating the deaths of a married couple in Madrid whose bodies were discovered yesterday, Sunday 6th June, in their gated community home in the Somosaguas district of  Madrid.

The police believe that the husband shot his wife in an argument and then turned the weapon on himself in an apparent suicide.

Local media have reported that the security guard on duty at the entrance of the gated community alerted the police, after hearing several gunshots coming from the couples home at around 1430 on Sunday.

On arrival police officers found the lifeless bodies of the couple, a 66 year old Spanish man and 59 year old British woman, who had been shot in the head and the chest.

The police are investigating if there was a history of domestic abuse, which if so, would be 17th machista murder this year and the 9th since the lifting of the state of alarm a month ago.

Since records began in 2003, some 1,095 women have been murdered by their partners or spouses in Spain

The investigation is continuing.
