Fugitive Boxed In Trying To Evade Prison
This footage shows police officers catching a dangerous fugitive by boxing his car in with their own vehicles on a narrow bridge, leaving him with nowhere to go.
A dozen officers then storm the vehicle and pull the criminal from it, taking him into custody.
The incident took place in La Manga del Mar Menor, in the town of San Javier, in the Spanish province of Murcia, with Spain’s National Police saying on 15th January that the criminal had fled to avoid having to serve an eight-year prison sentence.
The unnamed 48-year-old Spanish man had been found guilty in 2022 of brutally attacking a man with an accomplice to collect a EUR 200,000 debt in 2017.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison and was also ordered to pay the victim EUR 60,000 in compensation.
But instead, he went into hiding for over a year before the cops tracked him down. His accomplice had also tried to evade capture but was arrested at the end of 2023 in Monchengladbach, in Germany, after a European Arrest Warrant was issued, through the collaboration of the National Police with the German authorities.
The video shows the man crossing the bridge in a car, with one car stalling for time in front of his vehicle, causing him to slow down to a stop.
Two other cars then drive up onto the bridge behind him, with one stopping right behind him and the other pulling up alongside his vehicle.
After being completely boxed in, officers, some of them in hi-vis jackets, jump out of the vehicles with their weapons drawn and surround the man’s car.
One officer manages to get the passenger door open but another officer initially fails to open the driver’s door.
They eventually get it open and detain the wanted man, placing him in handcuffs.
He was taken to prison to serve his sentence.
