Guide To Spain’s 2021 Bank Holiday Calendar

The official calendar for Spain’s national and regional holidays has been published by the official state bulletin BOE.

  • January 1st: New Year’s Day. (Friday)
  • April 2nd: Good Friday
  • May 1st: Workers’ Day (Saturday)
  • October 12th:  Dia de Hispanidad (Tuesday)
  • December 6th: Constitution Day (Monday)
  • December 8th: Immaculate Conception (Wednesday)
  • December 25th: Christmas Day (Saturday)

Apart from these national dates, all regions, provinces as well as cities, towns and villages have their own days.

For the Communidad de Madrid they are:

  • January 6: Epiphany / Three Kings Day (Wednesday)
  • March 19th: St Joseph’s Day/Father’s Day (Friday)
  • April 1st: Maundy Thursday
  • May 3rd:  Dos de Mayo ( moved to Monday)

For the City of Madrid they are:

  • May 3rd: San Isidro ( Patron Saint)
  • November 9th: La Almudena ( Patron Virgin)

For the remainder of Spain the provincial bank holidays are:

  • January 6: Epiphany / Three Kings Day (Wednesday)
  • March 1st:  February 28th: A roll over for Andalusia Day on Feb 28th which falls on a Sunday this year (Monday)

  • August 16th: A rollover of Assumption of Mary, which falls on a Sunday this year  (Monday)
