Ibérica de Danza´s Anniversary Gaudí Dance Experience

The Ibérica de Danza Company will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a dynamic double show in the Red Hall (Sala Roja) at the Teatros del Canal this week with performances  on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd March.

The Gaud Dance Experience show’s world premiere will be presented by twelve dancers from the company’s regular cast.

The opening show Celebration is a journey back in time that highlights some of the best choreographies the Ibérica de Danza Company has ever created. The voyage takes the audience through a creative universe based on the variety of genres that define the group.

In 2013, to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary, a few of the choreographies from this first section received multiple nominations for the Max awards.

The second act of the performance features the world premiere of Gaud Dance Experience, a dance performance that explores the symbolism and architectural beauty of Gaudi while evoking nature. It uses the rich language of contemporary Spanish stage dance to review the life and work of the great architect and humanist. The music and poetry that support the show are given new depth by the score.

In 1993, Manuel Segovia (winner of the National Dance Award for Creativity in 2001 and the Villa de Madrid Prize for Choreography in 2004) and Violeta Ruiz del Valle established the Ibérica de Danza Company, one of the most established and distinguished organizations on the Spanish stage.

In their 30 year history the dance troop has performed in more than thirty countries.
