Liverpool Fans Descend On Madrid For Champions League Tie

Thousands of Liverpool fans have started arriving in the capital in advance of their Real Madrid tie on Wednesday 15th March at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

The match which is expected to be a sell out is the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie – the first leg saw Liverpool suffer a heavy home defeat 5-2 to Real.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid were last year´s Champions League winners – beating Liverpool 1-0 in the final in Paris.

This year Real are in a comfortable position, and are heavy favourites to go through to the quarter-finals having gone from 0-2 down to an overwhelming victory in the first leg tie.

From the last 27 times that Real have won the first leg of a Champions League tie away from home, they have progressed from 26 of them.

Both teams have faced each other nine times in the European Cup with five victories for Madrid, one draw and three defeats.

Kick off is 21.00.
