Madrid Book Fair Kicks Off This Weekend
Madrid´s leading annual street book fair kicks off this weekend and despite the high temperatures, record crowds are expected in the Retiro Park.
The Fair which hails back to 1933 with only brief interuptions during the Civil War and the Covid pandemic is one of the most popular Spanish language book fairs in Spain.
As in previous years the book stands and literary “casetas” are to be found along the Paseo de Coches in Madrid´s in Madrid´s Retiro Park where they stay until June 14th.
The event brings together hundreds of publishers, bookstores and national and international authors.
The theme this year is humour; celebrating laughter as a form of refuge, critique, and storytelling, while exploring comedy in all its forms, “because laughing is, after all, another way of thinking”.
