Rosalia Raises Eyebrows Sharing Gala Weight Loss Method

Spanish pop superstar Rosalia is facing fury after she revealed her controversial weight-loss method at the recent New York Met Gala to fans.

The 29-year-old singer – from Catalonia  – posted a snap of herself in a sauna with her body covered tightly in what appears to be black tape.

The process – known as body wrapping – claims to work by increasing your core body temperature, meaning you sweat a lot, thereby losing water weight.

The method is controversial, as claims that it can take inches off your waistline are unproven. Several experts have called the method useless.

And losing body fluids and not replacing them can lead to severe dehydration, while raising the body’s core temperature can lead to overheating.

One expert, Dr Savedra, told Spanish media. “What the method does is that the body begins to sweat and water is lost, but also electrolytes, which are necessary to maintain blood pressure.”

She added: “It is not a natural method.”

Rosalia follows in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian, who also came in for criticism after she said she had crash dieted to lose 16 lbs in three weeks.

The American socialite said she lost the weight so she could fit into a dress once worn by Marilyn Monroe.

Nichola Ludlam-Raine of the British Dietetic Association dubbed the 41-year-old’s actions “irresponsible”.

Rosalia wore a Givenchy dress designed by Matthew Williams when she took to the red carpet on Monday, 2nd May.

The Met Gala is a yearly fundraising event held for the benefit of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City.

It is widely considered to be the most prestigious celebrity fashion event in the world.

Rosalia has won one Grammy Award, eight Latin Grammy Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards and an MTV Europe Music Award over the course of her musical career so far.
