“Six Of The Best” Boutique Hotels In Madrid
“Six of the Best” Boutique Hotels in Madrid
Spain is a tourist hub not just for its sunny weather, but also due to its particular culture – from food to dance to music – and many tourists come to experience their way of life in person. Unfortunately, big multinational companies, as everywhere in the world, are increasing their presence in Madrid, making it more difficult to find the best local spots. We here at the Madrid Metropolitan believe that one of the best ways to get to know Madrid is by staying at boutique hotels who have the best experts you could ever hope for – local people! Check out the list below and get booking your authentic Madrid experience.
Posada del León de Oro Boutique Hotel
Staying in Posada del León de Oro Boutique Hotel makes you feel like you’re in a friend’s house. The rooms feel more like bedrooms than hotel rooms, and the staff are amongst the best in the world – any advice you need on Madrid they are there for you. Located in ‘La Latina’, you are just a small walk away from landmarks such as Sol, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor and more! Despite the central location, noise is not a problem as all rooms are soundproofed. To start you off on your Spanish adventure, we recommend eating at their restaurant which serves regional food, as well as tapas and wine (400 types of wine!)
The Pavilions
The Pavilions is the cheapest option on this list, yet not for any obvious reason. The hotel has been decorated with famous art from the Álvaro Alcázar gallery. At times it gives you the impression that you are in an art gallery! Apart from enjoying the art in the rooms, you will also enjoy the elegant and modern design that they went for. Other features include their bar and restaurant, as well as their outdoor terrace to enjoy the sun. It is located in a beautiful and historic part of Madrid – Plaza de Colón. This is a non-touristy spot, where you will find fantastic local bars and restaurants. And for when you want to embrace your inner touristy-side, you are only a 10 minute walk from the center! This hotel is perfect for art lovers but also anybody who wants to dive deep into Spanish culture without breaking the bank!
Hotel Único Madrid
This 5-star boutique hotel is in Salamanca, one of Madrid’s most exclusive and upmarket streets. It lies just 10 minutes from the popular landmarks such as Retiro Park, and Gran Via. We expect foodies will love this hotel, as its restaurant has 2 Michelin stars for its Spanish cuisine. And when you’ve experienced this, there are plenty more fantastic restaurants around the Salamanca area. Aside from this, the hotel contains an amazing garden area which we particularly enjoyed when lit-up at nighttime! Other amenities include a gym, spa, and airport shuttle service We recommend Hotel Único to foodies and couples looking for a romantic getaway!
Hotel Sardinero Madrid
This is another hotel that feels more like a guesthouse and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. It is located in one of Madrid’s coolest districts, Chueca, which is incredibly vibrant and full of great nightclubs and restaurants! If you’re looking to experience Spanish fiestas, or more simply want to find some hip cafes, you will adore this area! The hotel itself has a bar, restaurant, gym, and fitness center. The rooms are a mix of classy and modern – they have typically Spanish high ceilings and bright white paint, but also are very minimalist. They all have flat-screen TVs and AC. For groups of friends who want a boutique hotel experience in a great area, Hotel Sardinero Madrid is a must try.
Dear Hotel Gran Via ( re-opening September 2020)
Dear Hotel is all about love. They refer to themselves as “The most loving hotel in Madrid”. When you step foot inside, you realise what they mean. The staff show genuine care about you and your stay and will happily go above and beyond to make sure you get the most of the Spanish capital. Ever swam in a ‘Skypool’? You can now. Enjoy panoramic views of the city, watch the sunset, and enjoy a cocktail while cooling down in the pool! It’s so easy to feel at home in the spacious, bright rooms, and enjoy a morning coffee on the balcony! The boutique style of the hotel is on display everywhere and will suit travellers who enjoy the finer things in life! Also, it is located on Gran Via which lies at the center of everything. All the main attractions are just a small metro ride away.
The Principal ( Re-Opening September 2020)
We’ve had a hotel for art-lovers, and, well, The Principal is for bookworms! This hotel has a library in-house letting you explore your favourite literary classics. For any Great Gatsby fans out there, this hotel is for you. Set on the top floors of a 1920s building, this elegant hotel boasts over 70 rooms, all of which have great views of the city. But – you might not spend so much time looking outside the rooms as the inside is just as beautiful – they are all decorated in monochrome shades, giving it a classic feel. Other features include a restaurant and cocktail bar, and an outdoor sun terrace. Like Dear Hotel, The Principal is located on Gran Via, the perfect location for people who enjoy being at the center of the action.
