El Rastro Back To Full Throttle From This Weekend

Madrid´s world famous flea market, El Rastro reopens at full capacity from this Saturday 26th September.

In addition the market which has traditionally been open only on Sundays and bank holidays will now be holding its El Rastro On Saturdays featuring art and artisanal exhibitions and stalls.

The 250 year-old market has long been a favourite for Madrileños and visitors alike looking for street bargains, and enjoying the Sunday street market atmosphere.

The open air market will now return to having 100% of its stalls open for the first time since the pandemic began 18 months ago.

Covid-19 health protocols remain in place, including the use of face masks, keeping social distancing and the availability of hand gels at every stall.

The controls on entry, which had been imposed when the market partially reopened in November of last year, will be removed though the municipal police will be patroling to ensure that there are no oversized crowds.
