Madrid has always had a vibrant bar scene – and its cocktail bars have always stood with the best from the heyday of the American invasion of Hemingway and Sinatra of the 1950s to the modern chic of today.

According to the World´s Best Bar list, Madrid now counts with 3 cocktail bars among the 100 best in the world.

In fact its been a bumper year for Spain, with more bars in the list than ever before, and more than any other European country.

Taking four spots on the list, Barcelona’s Paradiso is at No.3, the highest a Spanish bar has ever been, and Two Schmucks climbed 15 places to No. 11.

Madrid’s Salmon Guru, which won the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award, is at No. 24, and Sips, Barcelona, is at No. 37.

Previously Spain has never had a bar in the top 12, making it the best year ever for Spanish bars.

The World’s 50 Best Bars is an annual list that each year chooses the best cocktail bars in the world through the vote of 600 experts from the beverage industry located in different parts of the world.

For 2021, The World’s 50 Best Bars made a variety of changes to adapt to the impact of the pandemic.

Due to limited travel opportunities throughout much of 2020 and 2021, the voting guidelines and voting requirements were re-evaluated to reflect this.

As in previous years, voting remained anonymous and secure, and the voting process and results were independently adjudicated by Deloitte.
