Madrid Wins Leading Business Travel Award
The city of Madrid has won the coveted World Travel Award in the category of Best European Meeting & Conferences European Destination.
The industry elite gathered at Forte Village Resort on the idyllic Mediterranean island of Sardinianfor the WTA Europe Gala Ceremony 2025 to discover who among them had been crowned the best of the best.
For Madrid City Council its the 9th year in a row of international recognition as the Spanish capital has established itself as a leading MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination in Europe.
This year Madrid beat off strong competition including from arch-rival Barcelona to the top spot.
The WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.
Madrid based DMC ( Destination Management Company) Madrid Adventures said that the award highlighted the progress that the capital has made in the last decade to become a leading destination for global companies looking to hold their team and offsite meetings in Madrid.
Speaking after the award Madrid Adventures said the award reflected the enormous investment in the region´s infrastucture including Barajas Airport, transportation, hotels and conference spaces.
