Madrid´s Valdesquí Ski Resort Opens Today

Madrid´s main ski and snowboard resort in Valdeski is open from today, Thursday 11th January.

The later seasonal opening was due to the dry conditions in the region until recently.

The resort is opening with 40 cms of snow – of which 10 cms is new snowfall.

Valdesquí is situated at above 1800 metres above sea level in the Sierra de Gaudarrama, close to the town of Navacerrada and is the largest resort in the region and the closest to the capital.

The resort has some 21 kms of marked pistes and is accessible by road ( public buses from Madrid run regular services) and for those travelling by car there is parking and service area at the base from where lifts depart take you to the slopes.

Its highest point is “La Bola del Mundo” at 2280 metres with a vertical drop of 400 metres.

There is also the Cercanías C-9 line that stops at nearby station of Cotos. From there shuttle bus services provide access to the resort.Advanced reservations are required for the train.

The resort has a total of 12 beginner pistes, 14 easy pistes and 3 intermediate pistes.

There are many packages and promotions to be had including day and seasonal ski passes some of which include reserved car parking.
