Police Raid Illegal Ammo Workshop
The Spanish Civil Guard have raided an illegal workshop and arrested a 61-year-old man suspected of illegally modifying blank-firing guns so they could fire live rounds.
Civilñ Guard officers raided a premises in Zaragoza on 27th April and including an a residential apartment linked to an investigation known as Operation Nebraska, which concerns the alleged conversion of blank-firing weapons into functional firearms and the manufacture of ammunition.
A man aged 61, not named, was detained in connection with the inquiry, the police said in a statement.
Authorities say he is suspected of carrying out unlawful weapons alterations and of being involved in illegal ammunition production.
Their investigation reportedly began in September 2025 following an alert from the Czech Republic after the suspect tried to purchase a firearm from a gun shop online.
He is also facing allegations relating to the possession of banned firearms materials. The police reportedly seized weapons, ammunition and tools.
The police said: “The Civil Guard has arrested a 61-year-old man in Zaragoza for modifying blank-firing guns to fire live ammunition and for manufacturing cartridges.
“He faces charges of illegal possession of prohibited weapons and illegal ammunition manufacturing following Operation Nebraska.”
The investigation forms part of wider efforts by Spanish law enforcement to detect and dismantle illicit weapons activity.
