Real Madrid Clinch Record Breaking 36th Liga Title

Real Madrid´s winning streak continued yesterday by clinching La Liga 23/24 league title with four games to spare.

A walk in the park for the blancos as they beat relegation-threatened Cadiz 3-0 and that was with a team made of majority bench players.

The win marks Real´s 36th Spanish league title while Girona, which leapfrogged fellow Catalan team FC Barcelona to finish the season in second place.

Real Madrid can now focus on regaining the Champions League crown which they last wore in 2022 when they beat  Liverpool 1-0 in Paris.

They face Bayern Munich for the second leg on Tuesday and have the home advantage after securing a 2-2 away draw in the first.

Should Madrid win this week it will be face either Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund for the final on June 1st in Wembley, where they will attempt to win the title for a record 14th time.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said the team “deserved this league title in every way.”

The win is the second league title and 12th trophy overall in his two stints with Madrid.

“We would like to celebrate with all the fans, but they understand because on Wednesday we have a very important challenge. We want to prepare well to make the fans happy and we will celebrate the title together on Saturday,” said the Italian head coach.

After the match celebrations, fans continued the party in the traditional way in the Plaza de Cibeles into the early hours.
