Bernabeu Stadium Suspends “Infernal Noise Nuisance” Concerts
Real Madrid has suspended all upcoming concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium to comply with the capital´s noise regulations, following scores of long running complaints from neighbours.
The venue began hosting concerts and other events again earlier this year – with artists including Taylor Swift and Latino Superstar Luis Miguel appearing in front of up to 80,000 fans in the all-seater stadium after a costly refurbishmen with retractable pitch and roof to allow it to be used as a year-round entertainment hub – without affecting the neighbours.
But local residents have complained that noise levels violate Madrid city rules. They argue the stadium is not properly soundproofed and its new, powerful loudspeakers do not comply with noise regulations.
According to a press statement the club said it had decided to rethink its concert schedule.
“Real Madrid FC is announcing that it has decided to provisionally reschedule its event and concert programme at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium,” it said. “This decision is part of a raft of measures that the club is taking to ensure that the concerts comply strictly with the relevant municipal regulations.”
Despite the introduction of soundproofing measures, “different organisers and promoters” had still found it difficult to comply with council noise regulations, the statement said.
It added: “Real Madrid will continue working to make sure that the necessary sound production and emission conditions are in place to allow concerts to be held in our stadium.”

The club said event organisers had faced a ‘challenge’ to comply with the regulations, despite soundproofing and other noise-abatement measures the venue had put in place.
It is unclear how fans for cancelled concerts can apply for a refund.
