Hero Cops Rescue Family From Sinking Boat

This is the dramatic moment Civil Guard officers rescue a family of five just in time as their boat sinks in choppy seas off the Costa Brava.

Officers from the Civil Guard’s Maritime Service carried out the heroic rescue between the Medes Islands and the port of L’Estartit at around 3pm on 10th August.

The family from Cerdanyola del Valles, Catalonia region, had got into trouble when their rental boat sprang a leak and began to take on water.

According to reports, the vessel was completely flooded, and two minors and an adult were already in the sea when police arrived on the scene.

As the officers went to help the stricken family members, the small boat overturned, sending the pair still on board into the water as well.

None of the five were wearing life jackets.

The officers managed to rescue the relatives and bring them on board their larger vessel after throwing them several lifebuoys.

The three adults and two minors were in a bad state of anxiety and had several scratches and bruises that did not require medical treatment, local media said.

They were not named in reports, but local media said they were a couple, their two children, and one of their nieces, and were spending their holidays in the area.
