The Madrid regional government has launched an initiative to support the struggling hotel sector in Madrid.
The campaign #MadridSinIrMasLejos has been launched in conjunction with the Asociación Empresarial Hotelera de Madrid with the participation of leading hotel groups such as NH Hotels.
The initiative comes as Madrid´s hotel sector continues to reel from record low occupancy due to travel restrictions still in force through most of the world.
Today Spain announced a further ban of flights from the UK due to the coronavirus variant reported over the weekend.
The aim of the campaign is to attempt to fill the gap with special offers and discounted prices for Madrid residents over the festive season.
The launch event held at the Hotel NH Gran Vía and was presided over by the regions tourism chief, Marta Rivera de la Cruz.
Some 25 hotels are participating in the scheme.
